About Me

Hello and welcome!

My name is Henry Queen, and I am a journalist from the University of Georgia. I’ve covered everything from SEC championships (one football, one gymnastics) to an arena football game played in front of dozens and dozens of fans. Someone offered me a spot on the chain crew before that game. Don’t worry: I turned it down.

I’ve worked at The Red & Black, UGA’s independent student news organization, since my freshman year. I covered the 2019 Georgia football team while also managing a staff of over 25 writers as the newspaper’s sports editor. I advanced to managing editor in the spring of 2020, when I helped lead our coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last summer, I interned at the Marietta Daily Journal. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution offered me a summer 2020 sports reporting internship before the pandemic forced it to be postponed. In the meantime, I’m reading, perfecting my chicken curry recipe and (unsuccessfully) trying to kick my coffee habit.

I plan on graduating in May 2021 with a degree in journalism and a sports media certificate. I love what I do, and I can’t wait to make a living doing it!
